Shimaoka Tatsuzo workshop in Mashiko Japan
This bowl was made at the Shimaoka Tatsuzo workshop in Mashiko Japan in 1974. The glazes are his and the pot was fired in his new gas-fired kiln. The kiln was full of both his and my pots and he asked me to fire the kiln as I would fire a similar kiln in Australia.

A tall pot made at the Shimaoka Tatsuzo workshop in Mashiko and was fired in his gas kiln. Because of pollution problems Japan was encouraging the phasing-out of wood-fired kilns, Also, wood itself was becoming an expensive fuel source.
