The potter - eightyone years: despite having 'littered' the countryside with pots for over half a century hopefully there are still many more to come, despite infirmities and wear and tear from the ravages of a life, a little too physically lived. My son, Damon Moon, is also a potter (with a PhD) and a writer as well as being an astute critic, the last being inherited from his mother, who herself ran our Summertown pottery gallery for over twenty years.
This website is, loosely speaking, archival. The pots I did in the first ten years—in the 1950's—were not recorded, and probably didn't deserve to be, but I did begin taking some photographs in the early 'sixties, some of which are shown here. In those days there were very few magazines interested in publishing photographs of pots, or of art generally. It was later in the 'sixties that potters began keeping better records of their work. The photos shown here are only a small number from my output. I confess to being rather bad at recording pots, regarding the actual pot itself as being the best record of all.
