I always referred to this pot as the 'Fairweather,' because it was inspired by the paintings of Ian Fairweather, an Englishman who chose to live in a grass hut on Bribie Island, in the northerly part of near-Brisbane. He had lived in China and whilst on Bribie Island he translated an old Chinese text, The Drunken Buddha. I,like many Australians, held his work in high regard and thought him to be one of the most 'genuine' artists I had known. As a young man searching for inspiration, his paintings proved to be an important creative springboard.The pot was made in the mid 60's. It is now in the collection of the Queensland Art Gallery, a gift of Patrick and Pam Wilson.
