GALLERY BOWL VASE |
The decoration on this bowl has an avian reference. I called it 'Goshawk.' Made in 1990,it is 20.5 by 35 cms. Stoneware, it was made at Summertown, South Australia and is now part of the collection of the Art Gallery of Western Australia._photo, Greg Woodward AGWA. |
This vase was one of those fired in the Anagama wood-fired kiln at Summertown. Made in 1980 it is 18.5 by 17 cms. The black colour of the pot was derived from its position in the kiln, close to the bag-wall, and on a damp kiln floor. The shape is loosely related to an historical Japanese Yayoi shape |
