Hand Wheels
Japanese type hand wheels ( te rokuro - 'te' hand, and 'rokuro' wheel ) These hand wheels are the preferred and only type of wheel used by me for many years now. I have three in my workshop: one has a very large wooden wheel-head made of a very tight-grained New Guinean timber and is mainly used for large platters. The wheel head of the one shown here is made of concrete, made even heavier with the addition of steel off-cuts.
